A few weeks ago I discovered some great tattoos on the upper arm of Fatal Smile's singer 'Blade'.

We started talking 'bout the technical level and the genre of it. In this interview you can read how and when he got up with this kind of tattoo. Here are some interesting stories..

I see you are into skulls, cards, lyrics, roses, .. but they are drawn in a more modern, higher-level, than the typical old shool. How did you come up with this genre? Did anyone inspire you for it?

The theme in this is “go for it, seize the day, you can´t win if you don’t bet, we´re all soon dead so live while youre alive”.

My tattoo artist and I have had beer and Jim Beam while talking about what to do and then he just starts doing something!

One of the most cliché questions is 'did it hurt'? And how many hours did you spent lying or sitting there being scarred..

The guty I usually use is a European champion, Peppe from left hand tattoo in Piteå –way up in northern Sweden.

He is very fast and it doesn’t hurt much. The two biggest tattoos I have are made on gig days, and they’ve been ok the same day.

The poem and flaming rose on the inside of my left upper arm are made in studio city in LA.

The rose on the bottom is tattood by an ex-drummer of GNR?

You could tell he´d been a drummer cuz  it hurt like hell. He wasn’t really fast, jumping from place to place on the tattoo, so it was a two day ordeal. The first day writing the poem was nothing but the second day was hell!

First of all since I was sore from the previous day, but mostly because he worked om the same area for hours, jumping from one spot to another, going back to the rose again after working on flames instead of finishing it up before it swells up and starts to hurt as fuck!

I had to treat that wound for weeks! The result is awesome though! The guy is an artist for real! We went out and got smashed afterwords and the rest of the week! We had lots of fun….

How did you meet him and how did you got stuck in his tattoo-place?

He is friends with some of my LA buddies! A friend from Quiet Riot lives down the street and we just walked over and we had nothing better to do so we decided to do something. Im glad I did!

And who were the other artists that filled up the arm? (or where-ever you got more of them)

The bull scull on my right upper arm is done -94 on Koh Samui in Thailand by a guy powering his machine with a car battery. He didn’t have electric power, but he had beer so…..

Both my legs have writing in Thai from knee to foot, and that was done by hand with a bamboo stick– bamboo tattoo.

The bartender of a small beach bar on Koh Lanta was talked into doing it at like 3 in the morning! That was awesome, the kind of place where you sit or lay on the sandy wooden floor, sipping drinks! Highly recommended! It was healed before he was done doing it and I could go swimming the day after!

The rest is done by the guy I’d like to call “my tattoo guy” - Peppe at Left Hand Tattoo! Whenever we drink together he does something on me! We meet far too seldom…..

What kind of assignment did you gave them? Was it like 'I want a skull with cards, do your own thing', or maybe you had it drawn yourself, ..?

Well, actually, I usually don´t have much of a plan and he doesn’t like whatever I say, so he does something in the theme that he likes. Its come out good, so I’m fine with that. Its quite unpopular though to come without a picture or at least a thought through plan, but I’m not swell at thinking out cool tattoos, so what the f….

Does it have a meaning? or is it just a cool drawing?

It has a deep meaning and it´s written on there. I have a banner on my left arm: “one life” and the poem on the inside about not wasting moments, going for life and not hesitating since life may end tomorrow!

Any more plans of getting inked in the future?

Yeah why not? It’s a cool feeling having a new tattoo! We´ll see what happens! I’m not the guy who books an appointment and wait for my time. Its usually a spur of the moment thing! Usually when im not too sober ;-)
