KEEL concert review
The Rock Temple, Kerkrade
2010-09-10
Yesterday, KEEL struck down on the Rock Temple in Kerkrade, and our very own Sandy was there to tell the story...
They brought old stuff, new stuff, "borrowed" stuff and encore stuff with the energy Holland deserved after 24 years without KEEL...
A list of (some of the) songs they played:
Rock N' Roll Outlaw (Rose Tattoo cover)
Speed Demon
Push And pull (new)
Somebody's Waiting
Does Anybody Believe
Streets Of Rock N' Roll (new - title track)
Because The Night (Patti Smith cover)
Tears Of Fire
Right To Rock (encore)
The entire set lasted about 1 hour and 20 minutes and was KEEL's warm-up for the Stockholm Rockout fest the next day (with TUFF and Shameless, who recently visited Roeselare for their first Belgian gig).
Singer Ron Keel really made an effort to keep the crowd roaring, disappearing sidestage, only to come reappear in the back of the crowd and work his way back to the rest of the KEEL crew.
Amazingly, the band still sounds awesome, with the reunion and a new album "Streets Of Rock N' Roll" still just behind the corner, it must be their second youth to perform all over the world again, a quarter century after starting it all...
