Crashdiet @ Trixx, Antwerp, 10/12/11
I got my handcuffs ready for a good time, because I wasn’t expecting anything less from Crashdïet.
The dam began to burst with ‘Breaking the chains’ which was only an omen for the sleazeflood the band would give us during the whole gig.
Just in case anyone was doubting, the song ‘alive’ showed us that they were alive and kicking indeed.
‘Riot in everyone’ made that no one could refuse to give in to ‘the Swedish four’ and admit it was just not possible to stand still.
Now it was Simon’s time to show us what he was all about by giving a harmonica show.
Since I’ve never seen Dave Leppard (R.I.S.) live, it would be very hypocritical to compare to him.
Simon is an energetic , charismatic and extremely talented live performer.
You can really recognize a real man when you see his Mohawk going down more and more with each song he sings.
Although Olliver Twisted is a very talented singer as well, he did do a good job by going back to ‘reckless love’.
After the song ‘straight outta hell’ it was time for a break, since I was on front I could see the playlist and there was a lot more to come so I couldn’t quite figure out why the stopped now.
Ah well, perhaps rockstars are only human to and someone needed a pee break.
Before the big comeback the drummer showed his love for the Belgian beer by producing a burp construction workers would be jealous about.
The rest of the band followed and assured us they were still on fire with the songs ‘in the raw’ and ‘it’s a miracle’.
For ‘queen obscene’ the band invited some girls to the stage to sing with them, two brave girls took the invitation, they clearly had no singing education but since I always run away when anyone asks me on stage I’m not the right person to judge, you do have to have guts to go up a stage, so great job chickies!
The band informed us that we are a louder audience then the audience in the Netherlands (well DUH!) and thanked everyone for coming (how sweet!).
Now it was time for the last three songs, ‘beautiful pain’,’ down with the dust’ and ‘generation wild’.
Overall it was a fantastic night, why this gig wasn’t sold out is completely beyond me.
I really hope it won’t be long before they come back.
