Another delightful dose of Swedish sleaze, that's just what Hell N' Diesel bring with their Passion For Power.

From the first Harley-like guitar fade-in and the gritty scream that opens "Sweet Sister" to the last howl in "Sweat It", Hell N' Diesel bring my favourite style of sleaze.

I couldn't help getting an overall barroom brawl feel, which is probably what these Swedes wanted to bring across in their speedy, bluesy, highly easy-on-the-ear style of music.

With aliases as "Evil", "Maxx Whyte", "Blanco","Sudden" and "J. Sledge", it's pretty clear what Hell N' Diesel stands for.

Just a bookmark that helps me in clarifying this, is "You Shook Me", which is just another way to spell catchiness in my opinion.

"Sexual Suicide" shows just how much they can drag you along in a song, building and building until the vocals explode in a climactic chorus. How high can you go? Evil does it, and adds a thick layer of raunchiness on top.

"Miss Cocaine" is the excellent single on this album, punching you right in the gums from second 1, with a chorus that suits any pop song, were it not that the lyrics and sound sort of mess that up. Radio-friendly this ain't...

Evil proves that he's not just capable of grinding out his lyrics in high-pitch bursts, by taking some of his vocal edge off in "Fallin'". You can't quite call it a ballad, but it's far more melodic than the rest of the songs, and the overall feeling is less agressive as well.

In touch with the glam gods' style of their main influences, "Love Me Hard" is their own version of how any old Sunset Strip song should sound, which adds just another positive mark to their name, and if you pop in this album (especially "S.O.Y.L." and "Ride Away") before hitting the town, you're off for a night of alcohol- and testosteron-fueled debauchery.
