Perhaps best well known for mixing funk with glam, Bang Tango are an LA quintet and this is their 3^rd studio album of this decade. But I actually feel it leans back towards hard rock than either of the previous two albums. Opener Dick in the System is a medium-paced heavy number with thick distortion and throaty vocals from Joe LeSte. Suck it Up has a similar rhythm with instrumentally sparse verses that thicken out in the choruses to match the vocals. By Have You Seen Her you’ll probably be hoping for at least a little variety and fortunately, here it is! Although the melody seems familiar and even though it’s the longest track and rather repetitive, the band maintain this ballad well and keep you interested. Live Life dives right back into the fray, with a little more of the funky rhythms thrown in; the backing vocals on the chorus give a great trashy vibe too. The second half of the album sure is great for a mix of songs. I like It slows down a little, losing the distortion on both the guitar and on LeSte’s voice at first, yet the tone is even darker, haunting almost, as a quirky rhythm drives the whole song forward from underneath. The final track is the title track and moves away from the more aggressive first half of the album. Pistol Whipped In The Bible Belt is a lively, care-free number, short enough to engage you but just long enough to end the album with a true Bang Tango style kick.
