Let's be honest. There are few bands around the circuit today which are totally original. They don't present a completely new sound, or something that people never ever have heard before. In 2011, bands that make a name for themselves has the perfect combination of inspiration from different rock genres.
Enter The Wheel. And, for the record, they didn't invent it. But after years and years of lending their ears to the people who were there when it happened, The Wheel has learned their lesson.
Since forming in 2007, they have been recording their debut album while building a name in the live circuit. Playing alongside UFO, Ken Hensley and The Quireboys at festivals has gained them a reputation of a rock solid live band. Now lend your ears to their debut album, and if you are a true rock 'n’ roll fan there should be elements from many of your favorite bands right there.
This is straight up hard rock with inspiration from the 70´s , 80´ and 90´s. It´s laid back sound that is really pleasant to listen to. It´s a blend that mixes up the best the group has found in the bands that inspired them, well that´s my guess.
This gives a album with sold rock songs and really great riffs. To top it of has the singer got a really personal voice. It´s not catchy in a way that makes you sing along and raise your horns in the air. More in a way that makes you sway your head. The groove is really laid back and gives you peace of mind. I really don´t know how else to put it, but it sort of wrap up in like a warm cozy coat and makes you feel comfortable. I was surprised that I liked it as much as I did as this ain´t really my cup of tea. But I guess that is what happens when it´s done with skill and love for the music that you make.
This time I´m not gonna drop songs that I like on the album. I´ll let you find your own favorites when you listen to it. Be course listen to it I think you should. This debut album is really making promises for the future!
