I still can’t believe it: Faster f’n Pussycat is coming to town! Last week, October 12th to be exact, we the boyz ‘n girlz from Sleazenation served us a great starter, giving us the "Lewis and Riley" incarnation of L.A. Guns. But honestly, personally I was just warming up for Taime and his newly found sleeze cats. That’s why I decided to review the ‘semi’ classic "Front Row for the Donkey Show"… so freakin’ excited I am!

Besides my inner orgasm, I think this release has been skipped by quite a lot of people. Understandable. Maybe you sleazers prefer the late ‘80’s line-up. If not, you probably don’t dig Taime’s Industrial approach towards music. Anyway, it’s obviously that Taime and the current FP line-up aren’t afraid to bring something new to the table and has grown musically along the years. Front Row for the Donkey Show gives you a good impression about what to expect from them. So, without further ado: Welcome in the front row for the donkey show!

I won’t bother you with tales about Faster Pussycat, since the "real" one is lying on its back in the gutter. This album marks Faster Pussycat’s first ever live release. 11 tracks, divided into five songs from their latest album "The Power & the Glory Hole" and, off course, six classic FP anthems. What do you get? A great mix from sleazy Industrial songs and typical with sex dripped Sleaze Rock from the FP Sunset strip glory days. Their sound is heavier then ever before. Even after 25 years, Faster Pussycat is still a force to be reckoned with.

Front Row for the Donkey Show starts off with a freaky intro, very appealing to Taime’s love for Industrial music. After this, we hear the infamous "Pussy Pussy Pussy Pussy caahaat!", followed up by the title track of their latest album ‘The Power and the Glory Hole’. Good choice, since this 2.0 version of Faster Pussycat has something new and fresh to offer. Heavy riffs combined with Taime’s raunchy voice and a little bit of old school catchiness gets me in a sleazy mood.

Next one up: Cathouse! One of my all-time favourite Sleaze Rock tracks ever. So, why spend another sentence about this already killer song? Okay, one sentence: It’s even more grittier than the original, which was already kickass.

FP continues with another classic called "Slip of the Tongue". Less powerful than the previous one, but it delivers very well. Imagine: steaming hot chicks, dripped with sex ‘n sleaze…yum…

‘Number one with a Bullet’ is another brand-new track. Clearly Industrial influenced, but it satisfies me once again, just like ‘Sex Drugs and Rock ‘n Roll’. ‘Where’s a whip there’s a way’ and Faster Pussycat’s power ballad ‘House of Pain’ brings another tidal wave with good ol’ memories. Perfectly balanced.

The following track, ‘Pornstar’, is a great tribute to Taime’s personality. Not ‘cause he’s a pornstar (or is he?), but he adores the word "sex" and everything that has to do with it. Dedication is the word for this song, and Taime definitely IS dedicated to this subject. Earcandy!

Faster Pussycat ends their show with the explicit and slutty version of ‘Bathroom Wall’ (shame on you if you don’t know this one), ‘Shut up and Fuck’ (‘nuff said) and ‘Babylon’. Also Rolling Stone cover ‘It’s only Rock ‘n Roll’ can be found as a bonus track, which is (off course) a nice addition to this very well produced and balanced live album.

Now, here are my final words about this release: Front Row for the Donkey Show is definitely worth your hard earned money. Rather spend your cash on beer, booze and/or ciggies? Come and join Faster Pussycat at de Verlichte Geest on October 26th in Roeselare, Belgium. There’s nothing better seeing Taime sing and smoke at the same time live! ;)
