4. Oh Daddy Let Me Rock Tonight
5. Piece Of Me
I’m a very happy man. You wanna know why? Well, it’s because I got some Glam demo material from JJ once again!
Nothing is cooler than being one of the first to review an upcoming glam/sleaze band with some rough material.
After fellow Frenchies Frenchkiss’ great compilation of four awesome sunset strip songs, I was very curious about these dirty pigs… ow, my mistake…I mean Swine Diamond of course! To start off this wild ride, I have to mention that Frenchkiss is something completely different compared to Swine Diamond.
Swine Diamond’s sound is far more aggressive and raunchy. Is it a pro or a con? You decide for yourself.
As these guys let us know via their MySpace and interviews; they don’t give a f*ck about what you think of the band and their music. It’s obvious Swine Diamond plays for fun and what they think that works for them, not for the masses. That’s quiet unique, since so many bands in this genre especially want to please the public.
Anyway, here I have the five-track demo in front of me, called Swine This Year. 20 minutes of music, that’s quite an effort for a starting band.
I always thought the first song of an album is the very best. Too bad for Swine Diamond, “Burning For Her” doesn't pull it off. It has a fun riff, but the voxx are a bit, let’s say, awkward. The positive thing is it could be a very early Mötley song. Simple and rockin’.
“Exploding B.O.Y.” is a lot better in my estimation. It’s a W.A.S.P. meets Mötley kinda song, a killer combination! The gang vocals Swine Diamond performs are very entertaining by the way!
Oh boy oh boy, it’s getting better and better. Looks almost like they did it on purpose, by choosing this order of songs! “Handle On The Road” really had some potential to become one of the fan favorites. The track fits well in their ‘up your ass’ attitude. Well done!
“Oh Daddy Let Me Rock Tonight” keeps this rock n’ roll train rollin’. Pretty decent song, nothing special but far from bad. Almost a kinda punk rock song.
Swine Diamonds cuts the crap with “Piece Of Me”, a mid-tempo love song. It’s a mix between a rock anthem and a ballad, which works pretty good.
Overall I think Swine Diamond has the total package. Looks, music and attitude combined, these guys could be the next big thing. But then again, their music is all over the place. I hope they can find the right formula to be successful on their way to superstardom!
