Paolo Morbini (ex-EVA, Exilia, Brunorock) has plenty experience with many Milan area rock bands performing original material and cover songs from the most famous rock bands in the world.
In the early 90's, Paolo worked in Milan for the most important Musical Academy in Italy, where he met brothers Stefano (keyboard) and Marco Andreasi (guitar), who were huge AOR/melodic rock fans just like Paolo was and still is.
Guido Priori (vocals) and Adalberto Rizzoli (bass) also played in many Milan-based rock bands and were Paolo’s oldest buddies. Sometimes they jammed at various rock venues performing songs of Toto, Journey and Survivor.
After many years of playing live, Paolo decided to record the debut album MyLand, which was written, arranged, mixed and produced by Paolo Morbini himself.
The band decided to bring in their most important melodic rock musical influences, trying to capture the sounds as much as live they can and concentrate their efforts on melody lines, powerful chorus/ vocals and instrumental parts as well.
In 2007, the band released No Man’s Land, which was mixed by Marco Barusso at Massive Studios in Milan and features some great special guests like former Europe guitarist Kee Marcello, Swedish guitar wizard Tommy Denander (Chicago, Toto, Richard Marx, Paul Stanley etc.), key’s master Alex Del Vecchio (Edge of forever, Glenn Hughes), italian metal hero guitarist Steve Angarthal (Fire Trails) and chorus voices by Lia Kant.
Myland’s new album titled Light Of A New Day is featuring a new line up:
Paul Morbini: drums
Hox Martino: guitar
Fabian Andrechen: bass
David I: Keyboards
Franco Campanella: vocals
It's not easy to draw up a ranking of any rating related to the songs, as the high quality remains almost constant from beginning to end.
The opening track "Living In The Magic" is quite explicit on the unquestionable quality of the CD.
The new singer Franco Campanella (who replaces Guido Priori), is immediately on the shields as a driving force, pushing the band's sound, now much more rocking and bluesy.
The catchy melodies of songs like "Love Hurts So Bad"," Never Care Of The Future"," Fire Burns Desire" are more proof of the supreme artistry!
"In Your Eyes", "Dancing In The Moonlight" and "Wherever You Go" are the real melodic peaks of this album.
If you relate more to hard rock itself, then you should focus more on songs like "Living In The Magic", "Never Stop Screaming Rock" or the final "Stand Up Tonight".
In each track, you will find the beautiful and powerful voice of Frank Campanella, a great deal of artistic maturity, as well as individual capacity by the guitarist Hox Martino, and, finally, a fundamental background noise, by Keyboardist David I, good at knowing how to properly enter every single note on the disc.
All this creates an almost perfect blend of excitement and positive energy.
Myland reminds me of early Toto, Foreigner and Journey (among others ...).
The CD is mixed by Marco Barusso, which should be another positive point for those who know!
