As Tuff is defined as the ‘last of the Hair Bands’, people have forgotten the 80’s sleaze Metal band Erotic Suicide. These guys managed to release their debut album in 1994 when the Grunge invasion was in full swing. Or worse; any kind of ‘80’s Metal was old hat in the eyes of Metal fans and the genre played itself out by overexposure.
Anyway, Erotic Suicide is a great mix of Faster Pussycat and early Mötley Crüe with big power cords, sleazy lyrics and soaring vocals.
Their debut album, Abusment Park, contains 10 killer tracks and is full of 80’s influenced anthems. These guys even shot a self-financed video for the song ‘Can’t Remember’, which is a great song to say the least.
Besides this single, ‘Mean Sex Machine’ and ‘Babylon’ could have been monster hits if they released the album in the late ‘80’s. For Real!
Of course, ‘Sweet Summer Nights’ is the ballad of Abusement Park, a very sensitive song as it should be.
‘Ties Me Up’ starts off with some Thrash Metal influenced riffs. Quite awkward for a Glam band but is a welcome addition.
Overall, Erotic Suicide might have been very successful in the ‘80’s. However, 1994 is just too late to sell a major breakthrough album. Abusement Park is worth the listen if you can’t get enough of Sleaze though.
