Rock N' Roll Allstars - 2010 - Bang Bang Baby Bang

1. Bang Bang Baby Bang
2. Impala
After what we saw on the Sleazenation gig, I was mighty curious to hear how the Allstars stick on cd...
Armed with their single Bang Bang Baby Bang and the sensation of seeing them live, it was with great pleasure that I popped this one in the stereo.
"Bang Bang Baby Bang" is the song they saved up for the very last of their show, and it goes to show that this is one of their best songwriting efforts also.
The structure and music is typical Scandinavian rock in the vein of Backyard Babies and Hardcore Superstar, you get the same background vibe when listening to the whole of the song. This is a good thing by the way, I love that style.
Vocally, this one could do with a little less volume in the mix (especially in the beginning), but the chorus is so powerful at the same time, that this track really stands out.
"Impala" is a more classic rocker, inspired by old road songs probably, but still drenched in that typical RNR Allstars sauce.
It doesn't quite work as well as "Bang Bang Baby Bang" does, until you hear the song more than once. It really grows on you, the build-up toward the solo and the way the song feels gets better every time.
For a 2-song single, this is very representative of the Allstars' music, and should be heard by many gig-viewers already. Great initiative!
